4/18/2023 0 Comments Landscape imagesI'll share and relay the little story of my efforts to capture Loch Nan Uamh viaduct following this post. The third shot in this batch is 45212 getting away from Glenfinnan with the afternoon service on the 16th Sept. The first shot is from day 1 and was a good start with 44871 getting away from Corpach with the morning train, and later in the week the same loco passing Polnish chapel. Here are a first few images of the Jacobite with one or other of the three Black 5's working the line this year, 44871, 45212 & 45407. I have made a start on processing my images and firstly completed the shots captured with my drone of the steam services. Overall a successful week with quite reasonable weather this time. Last week I made another trip to the West Highlands of Scotland to cover the Jacobite steam services between Fort William and Mallaig, and some landscapes. #jacobite #FortWilliam #mallaig #STEAM #westhighlandline #WestHighlands #scotland #westcoastrailwaycompany #droneimages #mavicpro2 #dji #gallery #prints #britainonview #capturingbritain #picturesque #picture_earth #earthpıx #cheddargallery #artistinresidence #beautifulbritain. So I'm reasonably happy to have the shots I captured, but I guess I still need to visit again in future for another attempt. 44871 from the seaward side looking back into the mountains, this resulted in reasonable light as opposed to full sun, but no exhaust as the driver opened the loco up at the tunnel immediately after the viaduct. Finally I returned that afternoon, as the weather was somewhat better than forecast, for No. 45407 working across the viaduct (they don't always do so as you may have noticed), reasonable happy with that one. A couple of days later I tried again, with the morning train having the light on the landward side I positioned the aircraft looking out towards the sea, reasonable light and No. I don't normally go for tender first shots, but this side on one is quite acceptable to my eye. I then waited a short while for the morning train to be heading back towards Fort William tender first, well as is often the case I got this one in full sun. The first was greeted by the light dipping and the train running a few minutes ahead of schedule just as I was deciding on my composition with the drone, so I ended up with an ok shot, but not what I really had in mind. Last year I failed to get a worthwhile shot of this location, so trying again this year I made 4 attempts to capture a decent shot when the light was quite reasonable or had the potential to deliver a "full sun" shot. This being Loch Nan Uamh viaduct along the coastal section at the bottom of the famous Beasdale bank. Whilst in the West Highlands covering the Jacobite steam services, there is one particular location that I wanted to capture from the drone. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
